The Garand Group seeks to provide a molecular-level understanding of complex chemical structures, interactions and reaction mechanisms. They employ a combination of mass spectrometry, laser spectroscopy, and electronic structure computations to probe the relevant chromophores, complexes, clusters, and reaction intermediates involved in a broad array of chemical systems such as solar fuels production, molecular recognition, and biological processes. The group is also actively involved in the development of new mass spectrometry instrumentation with enhanced capabilities.
