The Gao group is a nonlinear spectroscopy group focused on quantum and energy materials. We develop cutting-edge ultrafast spectroscopy tools that span the visible-MIR-THz spectral ranges with the goal of probing and controlling novel physicochemical transformations in materials: e.g., inducing hidden quantum phases, directing energy carrier dynamics, and shaping chemical reactivity at surfaces.
