M. Thomas Record, Jr., a faculty member with the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Department of Chemistry for more than 50 years will present Biophysical Studies of Protein Self-Assembly Interactions and of the Mechanism of Transcription Initiation on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. in room 1435 of the North Tower. A reception will follow in the adjacent atrium. Live streaming of the session will be available at https://go.wisc.edu/zsi0p1.
The Tom Record lab studies the biophysical chemistry of proteins, nucleic acids, and their interactions. The group’s research includes the areas of RNA polymerase-promoter DNA interactions in transcription initiation, interactions of solutes and Hofmeister salts, and the effects on protein and nucleic acid processes.
