Professor Cathy Middlecamp, Alumnus Larry Overman to Receive ACS National Awards

Cathy Middlecamp, professor of environmental studies and chemistry, will receive the 2015 American Chemical Society Award for Encouraging Disadvantaged Students into Careers in the Chemical Sciences. The award recognizes individuals’ significant accomplishments in stimulating students who are underrepresented in the profession to elect careers in the chemical sciences and engineering. Sponsored by the Camille & Henry Dreyfus Foundation, this award was established in 1993. She will be honored at the March 2015 ACS National Meeting in Denver. Learn more about Professor Middlecamp.

Alumnus Larry Overman (Ph.D. ’69, Whitlock) will also receive an ACS national award, the Roger Adams Award in Organic Chemistry, sponsored by Organic Reactions Inc. and Organic Syntheses Inc. Overman is a distinguished professor of chemistry at the University of California, Irvine and a member of the Department of Chemistry’s Board of Advisers.
