The American Chemical Society Women Chemists Committee (ACS-WCC) selects 10 recipients each year for its Rising Star Award, which recognizes exceptional early- to mid-career women chemists from both industry and academia. Among the award-winners for 2014 is UW-Madison Professor Jennifer Schomaker, whose recent work to craft chemo-selective carbon-nitrogen bonds was also featured in Chemical & Engineering News in November.

The Rising Star Awards were established in 2011 to help promote the retention of women in science. Schomaker will join the other award-winners at the Spring 2014 ACS National Meeting in Dallas, where she will present her research at the WCC symposium.
