The Wang Group’s research centers around protein folding. They study how problems in this area lead to the defective biogenesis of Rubisco, the enzyme that catalyzes CO2 fixation in photosynthesis. They also develop genetically encoded sensors that detect protein misfolding events and use these to identify inhibitors of disease-associated misfolding.
