The Schmidt Group applies computational approaches to study complex materials, often with direct applications to problems of relevance to energy and fuels. Their research spans the areas of statistical mechanics, electronic structure theory, and dynamics. Current areas of application include computational studies of crystal nulceation and growth; and heterogeneous catalytic conversion of biomass to liquid fuel.
