Professor Song Jin

The Jin group is interested in the chemistry, physics, and technological applications of nanoscale and solid-state materials. They develop innovative syntheses of a variety of nanomaterials including metal chalcogenides, silicides, and halide perovskites, and discover and develop the screw dislocation-driven growth of chiral and twisted nanomaterials. Building on the fundamental understanding of novel physical properties, the group advances the exploitation of these materials for electrocatalysis, solar energy conversion, electrochemical energy storage to decarbonize chemical manufacturing and address sustainability and environmental challenges, as well as for optoelectronics, spintronics (quantum) technologies, and biotechnology.
