The Jin Group is interested in the chemistry, physics, and technological applications of nanoscale and solid-state materials. They develop innovative syntheses of a variety of nanomaterials including metal chalcogenides, silicides, and halide perovskites, and discover and develop the screw dislocation-driven growth of chiral and twisted nanomaterials. Building on the fundamental understanding of novel physical properties and the synthesis-structure-property relationships, the group advances the exploitation of (nano)materials for electrocatalysis, solar energy conversion, electrochemical energy storage to decarbonize chemical manufacturing, as well as optoelectronics, spintronics (quantum) technologies, and biotechnology.
