The American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Inorganic Chemistry has announced Professor Song Jin as the 2014 recipient of the Nanoscience Award. The award, sponsored by the University of South Carolina NanoCenter, recognizes “sustained excellence, dedication, and perseverance in research and service in the area of inorganic nanoscience.”
With experience in both traditional materials chemistry and nanotechnology, Jin has established an interdisciplinary research program to study the chemistry and physics of nanoscale materials. The Jin group develops strategies to create new nanomaterials and investigate the relationships between their structures and functions. Ongoing projects include the development of alternative, low-cost materials for solar energy conversion and thermoelectric energy conversion.
Jin will receive the award in August at the 248th ACS National Meeting in San Francisco, where a symposium will be held in his honor.
