The Royal Society of Chemistry recently awarded Professor Ron Raines the 2013 Jeremy Knowles Award. Raines is the Henry Lardy Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry at UW-Madison.
The award, which was established in 2008, recognizes and promotes the “importance of inter- and multi-disciplinary research between chemistry and the life sciences.” Jeremy Knowles was a professor at Harvard University whose research initially focused on physical organic chemistry and later expanded to focus on biochemistry. Knowles served as dean of Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences for more than a decade.
