Computer Center Proposal Formally Funded From NSF

We’re delighted to inform everyone that our proposal to NSF, “Upgrade of cyber-enabled facility for computational chemistry research and education” has been formally recommended for funding by NSF in the amount of $562,307, using funds from the ARRA “Stimulus package”.”
This will be used to purchase 2 brand new computer clusters (targeted toward different sets of applications) as well as new networking and web hardware, along with funding efforts for outreach and education.  This will be a tremendous improvement to our departmental computer resources.
Thanks to Clark Landis, Qiang Cui, and all the others who contributed substantially to the writing of this proposal.   I will be convening a meeeting of the primary users listed in the proposal along with selected others in the next couple of weeks to discuss next steps.
