“As a teaching assistant for analytical chemistry (Chem 327 & 329, starting in 2013) here at University of Wisconsin-Madison, I truly believed that, if I gave students support, they would be successful. I was known for creating worksheets and developing jeopardy games for exam review (both previous still being used or adapted today!), causing students to even try to join my discussion section each week. Almost 10 years later, I found myself standing at the front of a classroom with the same resolve, especially with the onset and resolution of the COVID-19 pandemic. But now, I realize that my strength as an educator is built upon a strong team, meaning that support should be spread across an entire course team, not just students. This presentation will highlight some of the ways I have learned to support my diverse team and how they have supported me in becoming a better educator.”
