Title: Stereospecific Functionalization of Chiral Organoboron Compounds

Abstract:

Stereospecific synthetic strategies offer an attractive alternative to their stereoconvergent counterparts, particularly in terms of the generality of their applications. Our group has been engaged in the development of synthetic methods that utilize enantiomerically enriched organoboron compounds as versatile precursors for stereospecific transformations. These efforts have led to the development of novel methods for the stereospecific formation of C–C and C–heteroatom bonds.
In this seminar, I will discuss how advances in this research program have addressed unmet synthetic needs in existing asymmetric synthesis and highlight new mechanistic insights gained along the way.
