“Responsive and Sustainable Materials through Rational Polymer Design”
The synthetic versatility inherent to polymers provides an expansive range of accessible physical properties in polymer materials. This range of properties has made polymers an essential part of modern life, and an indispensable tool in the advancement of sustainability, energy, and medicine. This seminar highlights how we have designed polymers to address a variety of problems throughout the world, with a focus on improving the degradability of polymers derived from radical polymerization and our effort towards increasing the performance of polymer electrolytes for Li-ion batteries. We will further detail how these innovations can lead to new types of materials, as exemplified by our work on a unique temperature-responsive polymer network.
