Buller Group

Assistant Proffesor Andrew Buller

The Buller Group research is focussed on how to engineer new biocatalytic reactions and do so with a broad substrate scope, a major challenge in enzymology. They contribute to green chemistry by focusing on enzymes that perform challenging chemical reactions in aqueous environments with high selectivity. Most recently, the group has began advancing the chemistry of a new cofactor, CoPPIX, where the iron atom from heme is substituted with a cobalt. Long-term goals for the group are to use new enzymatic transformations for the sustainable chemoenzymatic synthesis of bioactive compounds.
