JANELIA VISITOR GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
A new program at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Janelia Farm Research Campus, the Janelia Visitor Graduate Fellowship. The goal of this fellowship is to attract outstanding graduate students from the United States and abroad to spend 1-3 years at Janelia working towards their Ph.D. degree. Students with an interest in neuroscience, computer science, bioimaging, structural biology and applied physics are encouraged to apply. Applicants need to be enrolled in a doctoral program and have completed the required course work at their home institution prior to joining Janelia.
Successful applicants will be full-time HHMI/Janelia employees during the fellowship period, a position that includes a generous stipend, excellent benefits and a travel allowance. In addition, Janelia will provide the student's home institution with an allowance of $10,000/year during the years the student spends at Janelia, the terms of which will be covered through an inter-institutional agreement.
We hope that this new program will allow students from all over the world to benefit from Janelia's unique research environment characterized by small laboratories, extensive collaborations, and exceptional resources and facilities. In addition, students will have exposure to world-class science through the numerous international conferences and scientific seminars held at Janelia.
Please share this exciting opportunity with eligible students, and make the enclosed posters visible to your colleagues and potential students. The application deadline is July 15, 2014. For more details about the program and application process please visit our website at: www.ianelia.orq/gf14 or contact me directly at: Ulrike Herberlein, Scientific Program Director, Laboratory Head, 19700 Helix Drive, Ashburn, Virginia 20147, Phone: 571-209-4173, e-mail: heberleinu@janelia.hhmi.org.
