Position: Scientific Support / Internship. Mirus Bio LLC, a biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing innovative nucleic acid based technologies and products, has a part-time position for a responsible student.
Availability during School Year Mon - Fri 9AM-6PM: approximately 10 hours/week, flexible scheduling.
Availability during summer and other breaks: approximately 40 hours/week.
We seek an enthusiastic student working toward a degree in chemistry or biochemistry to work in the organic chemistry lab. Previous laboratory experience in a chemistry research lab is a plus, but not required.  This position provides an opportunity for students to work closely with senior scientists in order to gain technical skills while being exposed to the small biotech company environment. Initial training in the organic lab and analytical techniques will be provided. The work will include some basic laboratory tasks such as preparing solutions, performing organic synthesis and purification of organic compounds under supervision of a senior scientist, archiving data in a laboratory notebook and basic maintenance of the lab and equipment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to participate effectively in multidisciplinary environment are essential. Most student interns progress to assisting the scientific staff with their research programs, gaining invaluable research experience The ideal candidate will be one that is an underclassman (freshman or sophomore, preferred) who brings the opportunity to work at Mirus Bio throughout the remainder of their undergraduate career.  This position offers significant exposure to current molecular biology and gene transfer technologies. Visiting Chemistry Lecturer - Position No. 13-42AS67. The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (www.uwsp.eduichemistry) seeks applicants for a full-time visiting lecturer position in a department that places a high value on excellence in teaching. The appointment will begin on August 26, 2013 with a nine-month academic year contract that will be renewed for a second nine-month period depending on performance and budget. The successful applicant will have at least an MS degree, or be a doctoral candidate, in chemistry or biochemistry and show promise for excellence in teaching. Teaching responsibilities will involve introductory-level chemistry courses; specific assignments will vary according to the Department's needs.
