Marty Zanni Receives NAS Award
It has been a good year for Professor Marty Zanni! The National Academy of Sciences just announced that he will receive the NAS Award for Initiatives in Research "for revolutionary advances in multidimensional spectroscopies, which are enabling discoveries in biological, medical and condensed matter chemical systems." Supported by Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs, the award -- given this year in optical sciences   recognizes innovative young scientists and encourages research likely to lead toward new capabilities for human benefit."  http://www8.nationalacademies.org/onpinews/newsitem.aspx?RecordID=01202011. The Department of Chemistry at Smith College invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor to begin July 2011, with the possibility for renewal for a second year. Primary teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced courses and laboratories in environmental, analytical, and/or physical chemistry, depending on the candidate's area(s) of expertise. Opportunities to conduct research with undergraduates, using Smith College instrumentation and facilities, are available. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field and a commitment to excellence in teaching.
