Job Description

This position will perform a variety of laboratory procedures to support Downstream Process Development.  The position will perform daily work assignments accurately and in a timely and safe manner. This position will perform routine scientific work, evaluating, selecting and applying standardized scientific procedures and techniques to assignments with clear, specific objectives; assignments require investigation of a limited number of variables and few complex features. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of alternatives.                                                                                                                       
II.  Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

• Maintains organization and 5S standards in the development and pilot labs. 
• Executes and documents 5S audits of laboratory space and update areas as needed or requested
• Supports large scale purification operations as needed
• Performs data entry
• Maintains batch production records and complete all laboratory documentation in clear, accurate language according to SOP
• General lab cleaning and lab support
• Disposes of trash and recyclables, including autoclaving
• Accurately completes routine and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Actively participates in team meetings
• Prepares buffers as necessary
• Writes equipment and media SOPs
• Other duties as assigned


III.  Position Requirements:

Education or Equivalent: 
• B.S/B.A. in Biotechnology, or related field 
• Associates Degree/Certificate/Diploma in laboratory science with minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory

• Preferred: 
o Experience operating and maintaining equipment specific for a Purification or biochemistry Laboratory, including liquid chromatography work stations (low pressure systems)
o Aseptic technique experience
o Purification and filtration experience 
o Good documentation practices (GDP) 
• Required: 
o Experience following standard operating procedures 
• General laboratory equipment experience, including micropipettes, spectrophotometry, pH measurements
