Some Sad News

On Wednesday, January 5th, 2000, Gary A. "Bear" Beld died unexpectedly at work. Gary had been with the Chemistry Department for about 10 years. He worked down in the Mailroom and also delivered packages received to the main stockroom to everyone in the department. Gary will be missed by all.

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AND/OR JOBS

Professor Lisa McElwee-White of the University of Florida has an opening for a postdoc to synthesize heterobinuclear Ru/Pt and Ru/Au complexes as catalysts for the electrooxidation of methanol. Although the role of this postdoc is synthetic, the project involves collaboration with electrochemists on the catalytic aspects. Experience with glovebox and Schlenk techniques for the preparation of air-sensitive compounds is required. The position is available immediately. The initial appointment is for one year, renewable if mutually agreeable. Applicants should provide a CV and two letters of reference by email.
