The ACS 2019 national award winner list includes four from UW-Madison’s Department of Chemistry

ACS released the names of its national award winners this week, and five are from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, four of whom work for the Department of Chemistry.

  • Robert McMahon, professor of chemistry, won the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Awards, sponsored by the Arthur C. Cope Fund.
  • Tehshik Yoon, professor of chemistry, won the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Awards, sponsored by the Arthur C. Cope Fund.
  • Ive Hermans, professor of chemistry, won the Ipatieff Prize, sponsored by the Ipatieff Trust Fund.
  • Catherine H. Middlecamp, professor of chemistry, won the George C. Pimentel Award in Chemical Education, sponsored by Cengage Learning and the ACS Division of Chemical Education.
  • Manos Mavrikakis, professor of engineering, won the Gabor A. Somorjai Award for Creative Research in Catalysis, sponsored by the Gabor A. & Judith K. Somorjai Endowment Fund.
